How many pounds of buckwheat hulls do I need to make a zafu that is 9" high and 13" wide?

June 9th, 2009

I am making my own zafu and want to know how much buckwheat it is going to require. How many pounds, specifically. It is a large zafu: 9" tall by 13" wide. Please advise and thanks!

Hi,

This might be of some help.

At least 15 tons depending on weather you want a sturdy one or not.
Having said that I must confess my ignorance,I have no idea what a zafu is,sorry to waste your time.

We stuff our Buckwheat Hull Zafu with approximately 4.5 lbs. of organic buckwheat hulls. The Buckwheat Hull Zafu measures 15″ in diameter with a 5.5″ loft. Made of durable 10 oz., 100% cotton duck fabric with carrying handle.
