November 3rd, 2008

Here are some interesting articles I found.  One’s on assorted meditation furniture, it’s not just meditation cushions you can use to make your sitting easier.
The other’s about venturing off the meditation cushion completely!  Meditation whilst swimming’s what it’s all about.

How to Sit on a Meditation Cushion

October 28th, 2008

We get less and less supple as we get older.  If you’re new to meditation, and are having problems with stiffness or pain, maybe it’s your sitting position that’s causing it.  There are lots of different ways to sit for meditation, each position with its own qualities and each tailored for varying levels of flexibility.

How To Make a Meditaton Cushion and Zabuton

October 26th, 2008

Whilst trawling the web for all things zafu I uncovered this little gem.

I was looking around for information on what happens to your back when your hips aren’t elevated properly, and I found this site, Prapattiprops.  It’s power for the cause on why we all need a meditation cushion if we sit regularly.  Now this site has a sizing poster (follow the link on the site) that [...]

What Gollum Can Teach You About Meditation

October 15th, 2008

Body and mind are not two separate things, but one interconnected whole.  Events that affect one inevitably affect the other and your posture can affect what goes on in your mind.  The best example I’ve ever seen of this is Gollum from the Lord of the Rings trilogy.  If you watch the special features, there’s [...]

Why Meditation Cushions?

October 13th, 2008

When I first started meditating, I didn’t give meditation cushions a second thought. I’m just trying to sit still and chant my mantra right? How hard can that be?
Quite difficult actually, when your back and neck start hurting, legs go to sleep and knees seize up, an uncomfortable body does not make for a still [...]
