Use Yoga And Meditation For Personal Growth

June 26th, 2009

Although many people are not aware of it, the connection between yoga and meditation is quite strong. Meditation is a perfect compliment to yoga whether you are looking to increase your spiritual awareness, get in better shape or looking for a way to reduce stress. A deep meditative state can also be achieved by doing yoga exercises.

Yoga and Meditation go hand in hand and can really help to advance your spiritual growth.

Yoga, in its essence, is just another form of meditation. By doing some of the many yoga poses you are training your mind to experience and get in tune with the subtle energy flowing through your body. While some practitioners use yoga solely for strength training and increased physical flexibility, the physical benefits of yoga only represent one side of this highly beneficial practice. As a medium to align yourself with your pure divine nature, yoga and meditation will help you to heighten your sense of self-awareness and build a great foundation for your personal growth.

If you take a close look at the basic principals of yoga and meditation you will see that they really aren’t that different. Both practices offer a wide array of mental, physical, and spiritual benefits. You can improve your connection to both the spiritual and physical by effectively using both yoga and meditation together. Both practices require you to develop the same skills.

Yoga and meditation require that you first learn to trust in yourself and in your inner voice. It is a common misconception that these practices can only be learned through the teaching and wisdom of an expert. An experienced teacher can help you learn the fundamentals but it will ultimately be your own inner voice that will be the deciding factor in how much you benefit. You must have faith in yourself or it will be difficult to get the best physical and spiritual benefits.

Second, both practices require a sense of discipline. We all have a myriad of obligations, stresses, and goals that are deeply rooted in the physical world, and these can easily distract you from the objectives you have set for your yoga and meditation practices. It takes discipline and a deep sense of belief when it comes to practicing each of these techniques. Once you start finding excuses to miss your yoga and meditation sessions you may altogether abandon them and miss out on all the benefits you could have gotten.

How To Master Yoga and Meditation

Ultimately a great deal of patience is required. Even though many benefits can be obtained form these two practices, expect it to take some time before you can develop a sense of mastery. When you first begin yoga and meditation it may feel like a waste of time but it is important to be patient to gain the full benefits. It may take some time but the benefits will come.

With just a small amount of effort you can learn to benefit from doing yoga and meditation because both of these practices are largely the same. In time you will learn to use both these disciplines together.  The meditative aspect of yoga makes it easy to realize substantial physical and mental benefits that will help you to improve nearly every aspect of your life.

At the minimum yoga is a great way to get your body in shape and if you learn how to meditate you will get the best of both worlds and take your personal growth to a whole new level.
