Why Meditation Cushions?
When I first started meditating, I didn’t give meditation cushions a second thought. I’m just trying to sit still and chant my mantra right? How hard can that be?
Quite difficult actually, when your back and neck start hurting, legs go to sleep and knees seize up, an uncomfortable body does not make for a still mind.
Most of these are due to structural or postural issues. The hips should be elevated so the spine sits straight, an alignment that helps the body support itself more naturally. Using a meditation cushion that’s right for you can help you find this alignment and make you sit more comfortably whilst meditating.
There are loads of meditation cushions and meditation furniture out there, and we’re all different so it’s useful to understand the differences between the various bits of furniture and which would be most helpful for you.
